Updating a Recurring setting - Updated journey assignment

When users are (re)assigned recurring content, it happens due to one of these two actions:

  1. A change to the Recurring setting of already shared content is published.

  2. Users are removed from and later added back into the same sharing.

In other words, when the user already has any existing assignment periods associated with that content in this sharing

When this happens, the platform will look back and check if there is a completion within the chosen period. If it can find a completion, the user has no further actions until the next period starts. If there is no completion, the user will be assigned the content from the time the changes are published.

NOTE🧠 If a user has/has had an earlier recurring period, the system can only look back until this point.

FAQ

Q: What should I consider before making changes on Recurring content?

A: There are initially two things you need to consider: What should be recurring- learning path or module? How often should it be recurring?

Q: Will the Recurring Feature recognise past completions when I move modules to a new sharing?

A: The Recurring feature will consider past completions if they match the Recurring criteria
you’ve set for the new sharing. Be sure to review and adjust these settings accordingly.

Q: What happens if a user is assigned the same content with Recurring more than once?

A: Assigning the same content to a user multiple times through different sharings will create multiple recurring periods, which can cause confusion and lead to scheduling conflicts. By assigning content through a single sharing, you can maintain a clear and effective content structure.

Q: What happens if I need to extend my Recurring period?

A: We will answer with an example; the learning path is recurring every August 1st. On August 15th, you changed the setting, so it should be recurring every October 1st. This results in the current period being reset from August 1st to Oct 1st. Therefore, users are still supposed to complete the recurring assignment from August 1st, as the period was started before the change was made. If the period was not started when the change was made, the users should first retake the content in October.

Q: What happens if i change my Recurring from module to learning path? Will it consider previous completions?

A: When switching Recurring to a learning path from modules the scope of what needs to be completed is extended. For example if the learning path consists of 4 modules the user would have had to complete all 4 modules in order for the recurring to mark the recurring period as completed. Have they only completed 3 modules out of 4 it will not be sufficient to build upon existing completion and a new period will be assigned and the learning path has to be completed again.
