Interact with your users through Feed

Feed is the place where you can communicate with your users by writing, commenting and reacting to posts.

Suppose you don't already know what Feed is. In that case, it is a feature that makes it possible to share information or communicate with users and departments via the platform - think Facebook, but with content revolving around learning. The text box underneath will tell you what you need to know before enabling any settings.

Features on the Feed

Edit other's posts/comments & Delete other's posts/comments:

  • As an administrator, you can delete or edit others' comments if you don't want a comment or post showing on the feed.

Create comments & React to post:

  • These are great to tick off if you want users to give feedback on your posts.

Post as organisation:

  • With this, you can publish as the platform rather than as your user.

Share with job profiles, departments and users:

  • These you tick off if you want the ability to pick which users you want to share a post with and get a notification.

Share with public:

  • In addition to the previous one, you simultaneously publish your post to the whole organisation.

Share with hierarchy:

  • Here, you can share posts with your department and any child departments. This means you can do the same thing in the "public setting". A recent update made it so these did the same thing, and I will suggest you use the public setting since it is easier to understand what it does.

As an administrator, you can adjust which features you want your users to be able to choose when using feed by adjusting the permissions.

What is unique about Feed in the permissions?

As mentioned in the article 'Permission Types', Feed is a bit more complex than others. The main difference is that regardless of user- or admin access, you will see all the possible settings beforehand. This means the boxes you choose work the same way despite which permission type you click. The same thing happens with "Learning Path"; however, there aren't quite as many options to get a hold of here and there, for Feed receives its own section.

It is also in Permissions that you can choose to enable or disable this feature.
