You might have hidden learning gems in static formats like PDFs that could be brought to life in another way. If this is the case for you, then you should keep reading🧠
Geni is here to help you easily turn your existing learning content into engaging modules. Just upload your PDF, and Geni will generate a module with both text and interactive elements. Once it's done, you can tweak and customise the content just like you would with any module you've built from scratch.
How to use it?
Once enabled on your platform, you can access it in two different ways:
1. Go to the Content library and add a new module. From here, you can click 'Create with Geni' and then drag or browse to add your PDF.
Or
2. Go to the Content library and add a new module. Click '+ Add content' in the bottom left corner or the '+' icon, and then 'Create with Geni'. This will also start the process.
Now, you are ready to edit the content to make it look exactly how you want it!
💡Quick Tips for using Create with Geni
Geni handles text and tables well, but can’t process images or illustrations.
Short PDFs = better results. Stick to focused content, not long walls of text.
If you are not happy with the result, no worries - you can try as many times as you wish.
Geni doesn’t store your PDFs - she only grabs the information and turns it into a module
When you upload your PDF...
Once you upload your PDF, you will see several options to help guide content generation. These let you define how your module is structured, how learners interact with it, and the style of the material:
Learning Objective
Define the key learning objective the module should focus on. For example: “Staff can handle a customer complaint calmly and resolve it according to company policy.”
💡Here are some tips for writing effective learning objectives for Geni:
Use an action verb
Make it measurable
Focus in what learners do
Keep to one outcome only
Content Coverage (Summarized / Matched)
Specify how closely Geni should follow the content in your PDF. This ensures the module accurately summarizes or mirrors the source material.
Interactivity (Low / Medium / High)
Select the level of interactivity you want for your learners - should the module include just a few interactive slides, or be highly engaging with many exercises?
Explanation Level (Simple / Balanced / Advanced)
Choose how detailed the explanations should be.
Tone of Voice
Set the tone of the module to match your audience or brand: professional, straightforward, confident, humorous, friendly, or encouraging.
Custom Instructions
Add any specific instructions, preferences, or details you want Geni to consider when generating the module. This can include style guidance, focus points, or other contextual notes.
Best practices for using Create with Geni💡
Geni performs best when your PDFs are well-structured and easy to follow. Here’s how to get the best results:
Structure matters
Use a clear text hierarchy: Headings, sub-headings, and paragraphs should be used purposefully, not randomly.
Make sure your content follows a natural flow. Avoid jumping back and forth; it's confusing for both users and Geni.
Use bullet points to organise information - don’t just list things in long paragraphs.
Keep it text-based
Avoid putting critical information inside images. Geni can’t read them (yet!).
Visuals like screenshots or graphs are great - just complement them with descriptive text so that Geni can read it.
Keep it short and focused
No novels, please! Shorter PDFs with focused content are easier to digest and automate.
Use AI smartly
Geni is here to help - but it’s still AI. Always review and refine the result to make sure it fits your tone and intent.
