The automatic emails sent from the platform are super smart and designed to engage users. If you want to personalize them further to match your organisation's Tone of Voice. Follow the steps below to learn how.
How to personalize templates
Navigate to you Communication settings
2. Find the setting you with to edit the email for. Click edit, next the the channel switches on the setting.
Good to know💭 You can edit most templates, but for the once where the button says "view" the template is locked. This applies for all push notifications.
3. What you'll see now, is our default template. To create your own, simply click on Custom template to get an editable version of the default template. This is where you create you version
4. The text in within the grey box are called, platform variables. These are placeholder for data. For example: Once sent, FIRST_NAME, will be replace with the name of the user receiving the e-mail.
If you need more variables, that can be added by clicking this button:
5. When you're done editing, you can send a test e-mail to yourself, to make sure everything looks the way you want it to.
Quick tip💡 When you send a test email, the variables are not filled out, however, they will be once triggered directly throurgh the platform.
6. If everything looks as is should, scroll up and switch on Use custom template. And don't forget to save!
Recommendations for making custom templates
When making the templates it is really up to you to let your creativity loose and create the templates you feel i most engaging. However, we do have some tips that will help you secure that your template looks nice for the users.
It is recommended that you do not write the name or links of the module, learning path, event etc. in the communication template manually and instead stick to the variables.
Make sure that you have created a template in all the languages you need. Otherwise users whos language is not represented in the platform will get a notification in the first template you made.
Send your self a test email before making them live for users. This ensures that you know how they look once received.
