Permission Types determine which features a user has access to in the platform, whether from the user or the admin dashboard.
With user permission, one can only view a specific feature from the user dashboard.
With admin permission, one can only view a specific feature from the admin dashboard.
With both enabled, you can see the feature from both views.
In this article, you'll find the information you need to know before making changes to your permissions, as well as an overview with a brief explanation of what the different settings and features in Permission Types do.
Why use Permission Types?
Managers might not need to be able to create a module in the same way that the Content Creator doesn't need to know which users completed which modules, and so on. Besides providing users with manageable dashboards by eliminating features they don't need to access, other reasons could be GDPR-related or similar. Now it is time for what you have been waiting for - an overview of all the features explained. Enjoy!
Permission Overview
Now it is time for you to discover permissions in the overview!
Check the overview tables for each package to explore the available features and settings.
To find information on a specific one, you can use your browser's search function to find it easily.

Managers with a user profile can access the My team feature from their user dashboard. Here, hey can view their team’s learning progress, send reminders, and take action on pending items -such as approving enrolments, reviewing written answers, and completing On-the-Job Training steps. | Approve written answers, mark learning as completed on behalf of users and access manager-driven modules.
Enabled here will give users access to interact with each other via feed. | Not viewable from the admin side despite it being enabled.
Not selectable. | View and buy ready-made learning suitable for most companies.

This is very useful, if you e.g. want managers to have access to the overview, but avoid them editing or deleting anything.
Not selectable. | Choose you to give access to circles, and specify what parts of the feature users with this permission should get access to. For example, if they can view history log, delete circles, etc.
Custom Fields | Not selectable. | Admins with this access can create custom fields and decide how they are mapped. |
User Group Explore | Not selectable. | This gives access to add content to the recommended explore in a Circle. |
User Group Skills | Not selectable. | This gives access to set target Skills in a Circle. |
You may not have all the same options as described in the overview, which could be due to it not being part of your platform. If you see any that you'd like to know more about, you can reach out to support or your CSM.
Good to know💭 In your permission types, you can also find Access Control and User Access. To read more on either of these, click the blue links.
